An application regarding Friz’s video will be submitted to the prosecutor’s office. “Zero tolerance”
Karol Wiśniewski’s last video caused great controversy and received wide coverage in the media. Friz may have big problems because of this.
One of the most popular and richest YouTubers in Poland recently published a video as part of the “Challenger” project, in which influencers had to compete with each other and stay in icy water as long as possible. As a result of the risky challenge, the participants were unable to get out of the pool on their own, which required the intervention of paramedics. The Center for Monitoring Racist and Xenophobic Behavior became involved in the case.
Will the prosecutor’s office handle the publication of Friz?
Participants in the Friz challenge had to stay in the icy water as long as possible. Although some influencers quickly gave up on the task, some decided to sacrifice their own health while fighting for the cash prize. Jay Dabrowski ended the competition with a hypothermia, which required the intervention of rescuers, while the originator of the project himself had difficulty leaving the icy water.
Many people have already criticized Karol Wiśniewski’s publication – both Internet users and public figures. The latter included, among others: Karolina Korwin-Piotrowska, who did not hide her outrage in her post on social media. “I ask who allows this and controls it? Because maybe instead of another day of bullshit about who has a diploma from which university, Polish politicians should think about what people do for money and reach on the Internet,” she wrote.
Now, the Center for Monitoring Racist and Xenophobic Behavior has announced that it will submit an application to the prosecutor’s office in this case. “The man running the social media accounts, Karol Wiśniewski, pseudonym “Friz”, led to a dangerous situation during which there was a direct threat to the health and life of several people. People taking part in the program were encouraged to take part in a very dangerous challenge. They were supposed to sit in icy water with ice cubes for as long as possible. It ended tragically,” we read.
“Paramedics had to provide first aid to several participants of the pathological game. Some of these people claim that their bodies were permanently mutilated due to frostbite they suffered on their arms and legs. Such action may violate several provisions of the Penal Code: 160. Penal Code, 165. Penal Code and others. Showing this type of content to children and adolescents may also be considered a violation of Article 255 of the Penal Code,” the organization noted on its Facebook page.
For this reason, the Center for Monitoring Racist and Xenophobic Behavior announced that it would report the possibility of committing a crime to the prosecutor’s office. “The Center for Monitoring Racist and Xenophobic Behavior in Warsaw will submit a report on suspicion of committing crimes to the local prosecutor’s office in this case. Zero tolerance for pathology on the Internet,” it concluded.
