An amazing find in the Polish forest. This item is up to a thousand years old

During the spring walk you can come across real treasures. Recently, Michał Młotek, a lover of history from Iława, found out about it, who found an early medieval boot in a nearby forest. According to estimates, the subject can be up to a thousand years old. The finder believes that his home for the next decades should become a museum in Ostróda. “This is a unique and extremely rare find, in addition complete, i.e. preserved entirely and beautifully decorated,” emphasizes the hammer quoted by Gazeta Olsztyńska.

A medieval artifact in the Polish forest

A metal detector can help find not only small coins, but also much more valuable items. This is proven by a history lover from the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Michał Młotek. Last Sunday, a Pole, walking around one of the forests in the area of ​​Iława, made a breakthrough coat. A member of the Iława search group underground came across an object resembling a sword vagina fitting. The age of the bronze of the shoes was estimated for about a thousand years – in the past it could be an element of reinforcement belonging to the warrior of the Prussian tribe, which was in these areas.

This is not the first time

Interestingly, Michał Młotek had already had the opportunity to discover a similar item. “The previous boom, dated to the second half of the 10th century, which he found a dozen or so years ago, went to the Museum of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn,” we read in Gazeta Olsztyńska. This time the finder hopes that the next boot will enrich the collections of the museum in Ostróda.

The shoes not only protected the swords against possible damage, but also testified to belonging to the family and social position. “It would be the fifth in our collections of the early Middle Ages,” says the archaeologist from the Ostróda Museum Łukasz Szczepański in an interview with PAP. There may be definitely more such items throughout the region of Warmia and Mazury.
