Not only southern Europe tempts the weather. Here are cities in Poland with the largest number of sunny days and extremely affordable housing prices.
A flat in southern Europe? Yes, for example Andalusia for fans of Spanish tapas and architecture, Costa del Sol for fans of sea breeze or Algarve in Portugal for lovers of golden beaches and calm resorts – they captivate with the climate, but also deter with prices. The recently presented data of the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management is surprising – it turns out that in Poland there are places tempting with sunny days and a favorable climate. Experts of the Gethome.pl portal indicate locations where sunny days go hand in hand with affordable real estate prices.
– Who of us would not want to wake up every day at the rays of light falling through the window and enjoy the perfect weather for a walk or coffee on the terrace for most of the year? It turns out that there are places in Poland that, in terms of sunlight, do not disappear much to some popular destinations in southern Europe – says Marek Wielgo, an expert Gethome.pl.
The most sunny cities in Poland
In Spanish resorts, the average monthly number of sun hours reaches up to 280-300. What is the situation in Poland? Although there is less sun here, this is not a hopeless situation at all – and from year to year the number of sunny days is growing. Data from the last decade, collected by research stations of the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW), show that some Polish cities can boast of impressive results.
Racibórz – on average 178 hours of sun per month, and in autumn up to 177 hours! Jelenia Góra, Legnica, Wrocław, Elbląg, Gdańsk and Zielona Góra – at least 170 sunny hours per month. Łeba, Ustka, Hel – real queens of Polish summer, in the summer exceed 270 hours of sun a month.
– Interestingly, Jelenia Góra, located in the inversion basin, is distinguished by a large number of sunny days in the winter months. IMGW recorded an average of 90 hours of sun – this is an absolute record against the background of the country. Gdańsk is also surprising, which in terms of sunlight is not inferior to many southern capital of Europe and ahead of, among others Milan and Budapest – notes Marek Wielgo.
The most gloomy cities in Poland
On the other hand, our analysis has cities where the sun is definitely less. Suwałki, Płock, Zakopane, Białystok and Warsaw have recorded on average below 150 sunny hours per month. Especially in the winter season, this meant the dominance of cloudy and short days, which affects the overall climate feeling in these locations.
How much does a meter of sun cost in Spain?
Of course, the previously mentioned Spain is a real Mecca for people thirsty for a sunny climate
– The Spanish market tempts with attractive prices of apartments. On the RynekPierwotny.pl portal, you can find in the offer of developers in Alicante Apartments at a price of approx. 3 thousand. euro per square meter, i.e. less than 13 thousand zloty. At the same time, the sun of the world there on average for 283 hours on average a month. This means that “sun hour” costs on average less than PLN 46 – says Marek Wielgo.
How much does a meter of sun cost in Poland?
According to the expert in Poland, it is very difficult for such a sun’s ratio to the price of apartments.
– In resorts at the sea, the prices of apartments offered by developers can literally blame. For example, in Hel, the average price of a square meter reaches 22.7 thousand. PLN (over PLN 130 for the “Hour of the Sun” per month!), In Gdańsk – it exceeds 17.6 thousand. PLN, and in Łeba and Ustka – about 14 thousand PLN – indicates Wielgo.
As it notes on the secondary market, it can be cheaper, but still very expensive.
– However, it turns out that the most sunny locations are not always the most expensive. Examples are Racibórz, Elbląg, Legnica, Jelenia Góra and Zielona Góra – says the expert.
Almost like in Spanish – three best Polish locations
The leader is Racibórz – this is where the ratio of the number of sunny hours to the average price of a square meter is best and amounts to PLN 42. This is primarily due to the favorable prices of apartments offered by developers, which are on average at the level of about 7.5 thousand. PLN per square meter.
– Racibórz is a Silesian city with a long history, located near the Czech Republic. There are beautiful Rudzkie forests nearby. But above all, it is a place where – thanks to a specific position – the sun shines more often than in many other corners of Poland. This can be an important argument for those who are looking for a place for a second home or simply a sunny place to live – says Marek Wielgo.
Elbląg came second in our ranking, which owes a high position primarily to affordable prices of new apartments. According to Big Data RynekPierwotny.pl, the average price of a square meter is less than 8.7 thousand. zloty. For this amount, the buyer can enjoy an average of 172 sunny hours a month, which means the cost of one sun at about PLN 50. There is also Jelenia Góra on the podium, where the average price of apartments in new construction is 9.8 thousand. PLN per square meter, i.e. PLN 56 per hour of sun on average a month.
