Until now, the widowed person had to decide whether to receive his pension or survivors from the deceased spouse (it was a maximum of 85 percent of the deceased’s benefit). As a result of changes, you can choose 100 percent for payment. survivors’ pensions and 15 percent own benefits, or 100 percent own benefits and 15 percent survivors’ pension.
To receive a widow pension, the following conditions must be met:

To be able to receive a benefit, it is necessary to fulfill one more condition. The widow pension will not be paid to persons whose pension exceeds three times the minimum pension. I am talking about the amount of PLN 5,636.73 gross. The estimates of the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) show that approximately 1.2 million people currently receive a benefit in this or higher amount. The data cited by Radio ZET shows that on just over 830 thousand. applications submitted so far to ZUS regarding the widow’s pension, as much as 185,000 was rejected. The reason is just exceeding the said threshold.
The station points out that with each year the limit of three times the minimum pension will grow, and with it the benefits themselves will also grow. This means that some people who are in the limit today, after another valorisation, can exceed it and lose the right to a widow’s pension.
The first payments of Wdowiej pensions are planned for July.
