Olsztyn, Łódź, Gdańsk, Katowice and Kraków. The latter today (i.e. March 2, 2026) joined the group of host cities for the 2027 Men’s Volleyball World Championships.

Matches or tournaments in which Polish volleyball players take part are a huge celebration – especially when the games take place in Poland. Regardless of how often the Polish national team has played the host role, it has been able to count on the red and white support for years, which has consistently proven how important volleyball is in the country.

World Cup 2027: Kraków and Tauron Arena will host the most important matches of the tournament!

Next year (i.e. 2027), the most important representative tournament for volleyball players will be held in Poland. The World Championships will return to the country again and it will be an event from A to Z organized on Polish soil.

Interestingly, such an extraordinary opportunity to watch the best volleyball teams in the world – only in Poland – last occurred in 2014. It was a unique tournament because it was won by the hosts in great style. The Polish national team then began a medal streak that continues… to this day. There was gold in 2014, then title defense (2018), silver in 2022 and the last one – bronze podium 2025 in the Philippines.

On Monday (i.e. March 2), it became clear where the most important matches of the 2027 World Cup will be held. Kraków, and more specifically Tauron Arena – where the semi-finals and matches for tournament medals will be played.

– We would like to thank the authorities of the international federation for trusting us and entrusting us with the organization of such a great tournament. I would also like to thank the Lesser Poland Voivodeship and Krakow for jointly undertaking this unique project. I am fortunate that during my two terms in office, Poland was twice entrusted with hosting the FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championships. For the first time in 2022, we organized a tournament of this importance at the last minute and it was an unforgettable event for everyone. This time we will host one of the largest events in Poland, we will invite as many as 32 teams to our country, we will involve five cities and provide unforgettable emotions to millions of volleyball fans. I am convinced that we will once again confirm that our country is a special place for volleyball, said Sebastian Świderski, president of the Polish Football Association.

The Krakow facility hosted, among others: the 2014 Men’s Volleyball World Championships (group D), the final tournament of the Champions League and the World League in 2016, the finals of the 2017 Club World Championships with the participation of PGE Skra Bełchatów, the Nations League tournament (2018) and the European Men’s Volleyball Championships (2021) (group A with the participation of Poles), crowned with a bronze medal by the Polish team. volleyball players.

Since 2016, Kraków has also hosted the Memorial. Hubert Jerzy Wagner.

Interestingly, looking at the current Polish national team (i.e. the 2025 season), the group of representatives also includes two people from Krakow – receiver Tomasz Fornal and setter Marcin Komenda.

– Sport, alongside history and culture, has been co-creating Krakow’s identity for years. The 2027 Men’s Volleyball World Championship is an event that will electrify fans around the world, and Tauron Arena will once again become the place of the most important sporting emotions. It is a great reason for us to be proud that the key matches of the tournament will be played in Krakow. The White and Reds have been fighting for the highest goals for years and I believe that we will see them in the gold medal game again. I am convinced that our fans will create an atmosphere that the entire volleyball world will remember – admitted Aleksander Miszalski, Mayor of Krakow.

The Men’s Volleyball World Championships in Poland will take place in September 2027, and the matches will be played in five cities: Olsztyn, Gdańsk, Łódź, Katowice and, of course, Kraków.

A total of 32 teams will take part in the tournament, which will be divided into eight groups of four teams.
