Animals are increasingly willing to enter cities. Once again, it turns out that not only to suburbs located close to forests, but also to airports. Japan had to close its port again because of a bear.

A small brown furball appeared on the runway of Hanamaki Airport in northeastern Japan. Instead of traveling, tourists and pilots could admire an unusual view and had to be patient. Many connections were suspended.

A bear at the airport

The commotion was caused by a small bear who was obviously lost and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The Japanese services reacted in time and, in accordance with procedures, took care of the safety of the passengers and the animal. Neither machine could take off until the furry creature was a safe distance away.

As Reuters reported, it became dangerous around 1 p.m. local time. Hanamaki Airport is located in Iwate Prefecture in northeastern Japan. The footage from port cameras showed the animal running onto the tarmac in front of the hangars. The photos quickly circulated on the Internet.

The airport services wanted to find and catch a stray bear, and the operation lasted about 90 minutes. Ultimately, the search in Hanamaki was unsuccessful.

Animals sometimes visit airports

Unfortunately, this was not the first encounter with a bear at the airport. Japan is particularly famous for such incidents. The last time we reported on a similar case was, among others, in June this year, when an adult in Yamagata Harbor also ran on the tarmac. Then, trips also had to be canceled until the problem was resolved.

Animals, including wild ones, even appear on the streets of Polish cities. Bears often make their presence felt, including: residents of the Bieszczady Mountains or the Tatra Mountains area. When it comes to more distant destinations, in Australia, tourist traffic can be hampered by koala bears. Once, the animal had to be chased on the Casula train platform, which caused a lot of excitement.
