A passenger attacked a crew member at the Warsaw airport. He then tried to escape from the plane on the escape slide.
The Border Guard reported a disturbing incident that occurred at the Chopin airport in Warsaw. A passenger of the plane flying from Tenerife to Poland on March 12 tried to escape from the deck on the evacuation slide while taxiing at Okęcie. Earlier, an aggressive tourist hit a cabin worker. The Vistula unit provided data on the citizenship of the problematic passenger. We also know what punishment he will face.
Attack of a tourist at the airport in Warsaw
First, an attack on an airline employee, and then an attempt at a spectacular escape from the plane – this is what the Border Guard had to face at the Chopin airport on Thursday, March 12. As reported today by the Vistula River unit, the situation occurred just after the evening landing of the plane from Tenerife.
The officers received information that there was an aggressive passenger on board. According to the ship’s captain’s report and the crew’s statements, the man refused to take a seat during the flight, and at one point he hit a crew member several times. “The culmination of the events occurred while the plane was taxiing to the parking stand, when a passenger pushed the crew members away,” we read. He did it because he wanted to escape from the plane. “Suddenly, the plane’s doors opened and the evacuation gangway automatically opened. A moment later, a passenger slid down the gangway onto the airport tarmac,” writes the Border Guard.
Severe punishment for the passenger
The fugitive was overpowered by the officers. Then, in handcuffs, the man was taken to the airport infirmary for a medical examination. “After calming down, the man was detained in connection with committing an act endangering safety in air transport, specified in Article 211, section 1, point 7 of the Aviation Law Act,” we read. Preparatory proceedings have been initiated.
The captured passenger turned out to be a 27-year-old Spanish citizen. The tourist will be expelled from Poland after a three-month stay in the Guarded Center for Foreigners.
