After the Poles’ defeat, it got hot. “It must always be the first time”
Not so Polish volleyballers imagined the Thursday match with the Cubans. After a 1: 3 defeat, coach Nikola Grbić had a serious conversation with the team.
The League of Volleyball Nations Tournament, as expected, attracted a lot of fans to the Tri -City Ergo Arena. After Wednesday’s win on Iran (3: 2), on Thursday the hosts unexpectedly lost to Kuba (1: 3). The style presented by the team of coach Nikola Grbcia was certainly far from the optimal.

After the match, Serb took the whole team to the locker room. A conversation took place, which certainly aims to help in taking the right direction for the rest of the staff season. Although it will not be a “magical” moment after which everything will be as it should be, Serb’s movement probably will not hurt the band.
He himself admitted in an interview with journalists, after this unusual meeting with the team in the locker room that something like that happened for the first time. The atmosphere was far from nervous, but it certainly got a bit more hot due to the fact that the hosts gave themselves to tear the lead 24:21 to the final 24:26 in the 4th set.
– What I said in the locker room is left there. I said what I had. It was the first time. It must always be the first time. I hope that we will not have any more such meetings. We are looking for the best form. We have and we had several physical problems, everyone is ready to play, but not everyone is at their best level. These are two different things. One thing is healthy, and the other is the volleyball – said Poles coach after Thursday’s defeat with the Cubans.
It should indeed be remembered that the situation in the health of volleyballers in terms of health is difficult. From the game in recent days and weeks they fell out, among others Bartosz Kurek, Rafał Szymura, Aleksander Śliwka, Norbert Huber, and they return to full fitness, among others Bartłomiej Bołądź or Bartosz Bednorz.
VNL 2025 tournament in Ergo Arena. When and with whom will Polish volleyball players play?
The Polish national team in Ergo Arena will play two more matches.
On Saturday (i.e. July 19) he will face Bulgaria (17:00), and on Sunday, to close the struggle in the Tri -City, a clash with Olympic champions – French (20:30). In the latter case, it will be a kind of rematch for the IO 2024 final, maintaining all proportions of the seriousness of the League of Nations.
