After talking to Kosiniak-Kamysz, he resigned. Tomczak resigned
Deputy Minister Jacek Tomczak resigned, journalists reported on Wednesday afternoon. This information was then officially confirmed by the Ministry of Development and Technology.
The decision was to be made shortly after a conversation with Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz – reports Wirtualna Polska.
Tomczak resigned
Tomczak takes up the office of Secretary of State in the Ministry of Development and Technology. WP reports unofficially that on Wednesday the politician was to talk to the head of the Ministry of National Defense, among other things, about the high-profile publication of the portal. The editors revealed that the Secretary of State’s company – a notary office – has been cooperating with developers for years.
On October 30, WP wrote that Tomczak’s law firm was to participate in the preparation of 3,601 notarial deeds – between developers and their clients. He ran the law firm in the years 2004-2013, and then again – from 2019 (he worked in a civil partnership with his wife). The journalists found that although Tomczak had “small income from work” (at least that’s what he declared), the law firm itself “had revenues worth several million zlotys” (it was supposed to handle investments in Greater Poland – in Poznań and the surrounding area). The portal reminded that the deputy minister from the Polish People’s Party is also piloting the “Kredyt na start” program. He argued for it many times and praised it in the media.
The Ministry of Energy and Technology, headed by Krzysztof Paszyk, published a statement on Wednesday, shortly after the publication of WP: “The Minister of Development and Technology Krzysztof Paszyk takes the media reports that appeared in an article published in one of the Internet portals very seriously, therefore he urgently called on Deputy Minister Jacek Tomczak to provide explanations and respond to the allegations made in the text,” we read.
The ministry confirms the resignation
After the information about Tomczak’s dismissal circulated on news websites, another announcement from the ministry appeared. “Referring to the previous announcement, the Ministry of Development and Technology informs that on October 30, Mr. Tomczak resigned from the position of Secretary of State,” we read.
At the same time, it was reported that the deputy minister’s decision “was taken out of concern for the good and image of the ministry.” “The management of the Ministry of Energy and Technology hopes that all doubts that have appeared in the media in recent hours will be clarified immediately,” it was noted.
