Adobe has announced a breakthrough decision – Photoshop will be available in the free version for mobile devices. The application, which has been standard in editing photos for years, will be made available to iPhone users, and soon also for Android devices.
In addition to the basic version, ADOBE also offers a premium subscription for 7.99 USD per month (approx. 32 PLN), which is the lowest fee for access to Photoshop. The paid version provides additional functions and extended cloud space.
Changing the Adobe strategy – attracting younger users
Photoshop, which debuted in 1990, was so far only available in paid versions. The cheapest mobile edition for iPad cost $ 9.99 per month (approx. PLN 40). Now the company has decided to share an iPhone application without fees, and the Android version will appear at a later date.
Deep Subramaniam, Vice President of Product Marketing for Professional creators in Adobe, emphasized that the company wants to reach younger recipients for whom the smartphone is the main tool for editing photos. The new application has been designed to meet the expectations of this group of users.
What does free photoshop offer for smartphones?
The free version of the application will not be a limited edition – it will include:
- Work on layersenabling easy editing of individual elements of the photo,
- Camouflageallowing for selective modification of the image,
- Adding textwhich makes it easier to create graphics for social media, podcasts or movies.
Subramaniam pointed out that Adobe has conducted extensive tests among young artists who implement most of their projects on telephones. The new application is to be a response to their needs and encourage to use Photoshop also those users who have not yet wanted to invest in a paid version.

Adobe still draws significant profits from paid software for professionals, but the company’s new financial forecasts for 2025 have not met the expectations of investors. Sharing the free version of Photoshop for smartphones is a strategy that is to attract another generation of users.
