Adam Małysz honestly about the split in the Polish team. Shocking backstage of dismissal

Thomas Thurnbichler paid a job for the crisis in Polish ski jumping. The Austrian in Planica learned that Maciej Maciusiak would take his place.

It has been broken for many months that the end of the 2024/25 season could be hot in Polish ski jumping. The results that fans have been used to for years are a deep past. Currently, Paweł Wąsek is the leader, but he is still “only” the 14th World Cup classification player. What’s more, in the 2024/25 campaign, the Polish jumper only once found himself on the podium of any World Cup competition.

Adam Małysz about the situation after the decision on Thomas Thurnbichler

During a specially organized press conference by the Polish Ski Association, during the last World Cup weekend in Planica, it was reported that Thomas Thurnbichler was ceased to be the coach of the Kadra A coach. Thus, the three -year work of the Austrian ended, which had several bright moments – e.g. the gold medal of the 2023 World Cup for Piotr Żyła – but there were definitely more reasons for a lot of headache.

Maciej Maciusiak will be taken by Thurnbichler. The 2025/26 season will be crucial because it is about the Olympic year. Will Poles manage to return to the world leaders? Certainly, the absence of an Austrian can be a “opportunity” for the most experienced in the national team. Thurnbichler’s cooperation with the Triot Piotr Żyła, Kamil Stoch and Dawid Kubacki – to put it on to, to put it on not to go well. Aleksander Znoczczoł also spoke bitterly about parting with the Austrian.

Actually, the only Thurnbichler was on the side was Wąsek, or … team leader. Therefore, it remains to be unanswered whether experienced will jump to the best, whether it will end up with … even greater crisis of the whole national team.

Thurnbichler’s decision was certainly not easy. The Austrian got a proposal for further cooperation with younger jumpers in the Polish Ski Association. However, it does not seem that the trainer himself – inelegantly treated by his former pupils – will want to work in Polish realities.

How did President Adam Małysz commented for the decision for Interia?

– It was a joint decision of the entire board. We know that the decision is made in a difficult moment, a year before the games. What we would not do, however, after this season a critic would happen to us. And so it happened. This is certainly not easy for Maciek Maciusiak. For him, it was always the target of A. It was even his dream. It’s just that he takes over her in a very difficult situation. We have the games immediately and the expectations after two weak seasons will be great. However, I am convinced that only improving the atmosphere will make everything move forward – admitted the president of PZN in an interview with Tomasz Kalemba.

It is worth adding that during the last Olympic Games, Poland has only won one medal. Kubacki gave joy, reaching for bronze in the competition on the normal hill. This best shows how important ski jumps are important for the winter part of Polish sport.
