Adam Bodnar on the letter from Andrzej Duda. “I doubt there is any will to cooperate in this regard”
Adam Bodnar reported on the details of a letter from Andrzej Duda regarding prosecutor Janeczek. – As I understand it, the president expects explanations – admitted the Minister of Justice.
– In fact, at my request and the request of the Minister of National Defense, the Prime Minister dismissed Mr. Prosecutor Janeczek from the position of Deputy Prosecutor General for Military Affairs. But here, at this point, we are entering a concrete act on the prosecutor’s office, which says: okay, great, but the president’s consent is required for this. I have no other option than to ask the president for consent – said Adam Bodnar on TVN24.
The Minister of Justice added that “even today he received a letter from the president on this matter, where the president asks, a whole list of questions concerning various procedural issues related to whether Mr. Janeczek knew or did not know about this situation”. – For now, as I understand it, the president expects further explanations. I will probably provide these explanations, but I doubt there is any will to cooperate in this regard – added Bodnar.

– This also shows that on the one hand we have the act on the prosecutor’s office, in which the concrete has taken place. We have the act on competences concerning the filling of key positions in the European Union and making decisions on Poland’s priorities in the EU. After all, we have not had a judge in the Court of Justice of the European Union for two years. Professor Safjan worked as much as he could, but at some point he had to return to the country – continued the Minister of Justice.
Bodnar noted that “no one starts the procedure in a situation where it would require agreement with the president”. – The situation is different when it comes to the European Court of Human Rights. There was a model competition for a judge and three candidates were submitted to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe – summed up the Minister of Justice.
