The press conference of the Speaker of the Sejm, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, was interrupted by activists with banners. The idea was to publicize the issue of climate change.

On Monday, September 7, Włodzimierz Czarzasty spoke at a press conference in the Sejm. However, his conversation with journalists was interrupted by people with a banner reading “Get the climate under control.” The Speaker of the Sejm turned to the protesters and allowed them to speak.

“Embrace the climate.” Activists interrupted Czarzasty’s conference

– We are very grateful that you are organizing a debate on the climate security of Poles, and as young people, we want Poland to learn that climate security is becoming a priority for the Marshal and this Sejm, but we also want to ask what the next steps will be – said the leader of the protesters. – Will there be a climate security act? We are waiting for this next step, she said.

In response, Czarzasty reminded about Monday’s national debate on the climate security of Polish women and men. “That’s why we organized it today. We suddenly stopped talking about the climate and were absorbed in other matters. Today, the Sejm sends a very serious signal that this is a very serious matter, the politician assured.

Debates on climate change

– I announce the same great debate in the near future with the participation of all circles in Poland about the future of the reform and everything that should happen in Poland in connection with health care – said the leader of the New Left.

During Monday’s debate on climate change, the organizers emphasized that the way we talk about climate in Poland should be changed. They also presented recommendations to help mitigate the impact of global changes on Poland’s citizens, economy and environment.

Scientists have called for similar meetings. “Poles have just started their holidays in the conditions of one of the most intense heatwaves that have hit our country in recent years,” it was emphasized in the proclamation, signed by, among others, prof. Szymon Malinowski, chairman of the Climate Crisis Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, prof. Zbigniew Karaczun, as well as prof. Bogdan Chojnicki from the University of Life Sciences in Poznań.
