Crowds of plant lovers come to the Botanical Garden of the University of Wrocław. Everyone wants to see the extremely rare giant parakeet.
The Wrocław Botanical Garden has extended its opening hours for visitors who want to admire Amorphophallus titanum, the giant botanical moth, which has started to bloom. The plant then emits a specific scent and opens its impressive inflorescence. Importantly, the phenomenon lasts an extremely short time, and the next opportunity to observe it may occur even in a few years.

Employees of the Botanical Garden of the University of Wrocław announced on June 25 after 16.00 that the plant “it started to open up”. As experts emphasize, “this is a spectacle worth seeing at least once in your life”.
On Thursday, local media showed crowds of visitors already starting to line up to see the wonder up close. The Wrocław Reporter informed on social media that before At 10 p.m. there were still a lot of visitors in the Garden. “There’s a queue inside for the freak show on the 3rd floor–4 hours – “The porter warns you at the entrance” – reported.
Representatives of the facility also prepared a special stamp, “to commemorate this interesting time in the ‘life of the Garden'”. “When you walk towards the greenhouse, you will definitely see a tent with a stamp point under it” – shared in a post on Facebook.
When can you see the apricot flowering?
To enable tourists to admire the plant, the opening hours of the garden were extended on Thursday. It will be similar on Friday, June 26. On that day, the ticket office from ul. Kanonii will be open from 9.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. (departure until 8.00 p.m.), and the ticket office is at ul. Sienkiewicza is to be open from 5.00 to 19.00 (departure until 20.00). Tickets can be purchased for PLN 20.
