A tragic season on a well -known island. Up to a 20 % decrease
Tourists turn away from the beautiful European island. This is the result of many months of residents’ reluctance to foreign guests.
Majorca complains about the lack of satisfactory number of tourists and the money they spent. Interestingly, until recently, some residents called for a restriction of visiting opportunities, for example by reducing the number of available hotels or additional taxes. It seems that the effects of reluctance to foreign guests can be very painful for entrepreneurs. “A significant increase in hotel and flight prices limited tourists,” writes Mojorca Daily Bulletin. In July alone, the decrease in revenues was up to 20 percent.
Tourists do not return to Majorca
The popular Spanish island no longer attracts tourists as it used to be. Compared to July the previous year, tourism revenues on the beaches dropped by as much as 20 percent. Why are there less tourists? Experts point to several reasons.
First of all – too high prices of airline tickets and accommodation. Tourists discouraged by the perspective of expensive holidays are looking for alternative directions. However, if they visit Majorca, they do not want to spend money on so -called additional services, such as rental of sunbeds or water sports. Smaller crowds can also be seen in clubs or restaurants. “Many tourists are waiting with a reservation of activity until the last day of holidays, which indicates a clear reduction in expenses compared to previous seasons,” we read. A negative trend can be seen especially among German tourists.
Negative messages
Another reason for fewer tourists that cannot be ignored are negative messages against tourism. The slogans about the necessary limitation of visits on the island have reached foreign guests for months. Travelers prefer to choose cities and countries where they feel wanted and needed. The anti -tourist campaign on the Spanish island meant that European travelers at least partially turned away from Majorca.
