President Karol Nawrocki decided to posthumously honor Jacek Magiera. The order was received by the coach’s widow.
On Thursday, April 16, Jacek Magiera’s funeral took place at Powązki Cemetery in Warsaw. After the funeral mass at the Field Cathedral of the Polish Army in Warsaw, family, friends and fans went to the cemetery to say goodbye to the respected coach.

The funeral ceremony was attended by President Karol Nawrocki, President of the Polish Football Association Cezary Kulesza and Minister of Sport Jakub Rutnicki.
Also present were, among others: Jan Urban, Robert Lewandowski, Dariusz Szpakowski, Jacek Zieliński, Kamil Glik, Paweł Wszołek, Bartosz Kapustka, Artur Jędrzejczyk, Michał Żyro, Jakub Wawrzyniak, Jakub Kosecki, Wojciech Kowalewski, Jacek Krzynówek, Bogusław Leśnodorski, Maciej Murawski, Aleksandar Vuković, Andrzej Strejlau, Czesław Michniewicz, Władysław Żmuda, Stefan Majewski and Dariusz Mioduski.
Jacek Magiera awarded by President Nawrocki
The president decided to officially appreciate the achievements of the deceased coach and player. During the funeral, he was posthumously awarded the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta. The award was received by Jacek Magiera’s wife, Magdalena.
Jacek Magiera was said goodbye to people associated with Legia in large numbers, because he played for the club as a player for 9 years and later served as a coach there for 11 years. From 2021 to 2024, he was the coach of Śląsk Wrocław, and in 2025 he joined Jan Urban as an assistant coach of the national team.
The premature death of Jacek Magiera
On April 10, Jacek Magiera, the second coach of the Polish national team, died at the age of 49. According to unofficial reports from Radio Wrocław, the Polish trainer allegedly fainted during a running training session on Friday morning.
After the quick intervention of the medical team, he was transported to the Military Clinical Hospital in Wrocław, where doctors fought for his life. Unfortunately, despite the actions taken, Jacek Magiera’s life could not be saved.
