Officials from Illinois called anglers to fight the invasive species of fish. They offer as much as a thousand dollars per month for black amura.

As part of the “Keep, Cool, Call” program (Polish “Stop, cool, call”) the Illinois natural resources department called American anglers to fish Amura Black (MyLopharyngodon Piceus). The offer is very attractive, because one hundred dollars can be won for a single individual, and the monthly limit is 10 fish.

As the name of the program suggests, after making sure that we have the right fish on the hook, we should stop it and make a note about the location, preferably by saving GPS coordinates. In the identification of black amura, they help photos taken with a smartphone.

The organizers of the campaign also ask to save the type of bait and fishing equipment used in half. It will also be valuable to save the depth, water temperature and information on the ground and water currents in the region.

Then the fish should be humanely killing and kept in ice or fridge. In the sound note, the program “Keep, Cool, Call” is reminded that having live black amura specimens is illegal in the states.

The last step is to make a phone call to the state authorities. The appropriate table is used for this, posted on the program’s website. We find in it emails and phone numbers for relevant officials from as many as 28 states.

Mississippi. Amur black invasive species

American scientists explain that Black Carp is a fish from China and Russia, which was brought to the United States in the 70s and 1980s. Initially, she was to fight the population of snails in breeding ponds, but for various reasons it soon became a problem.

As a result of floods or human errors, this species in a short time has spread in the Mississippi river system and is currently a big problem, including in Illinois, Indians, Missouri, Ohio and Tennessee. Black amur is an invasive species that threatens local ecosystems. He mainly eats snails and mussels that filter water and are now threatened with extinction.
