A terrible injury to an icon of Polish football. This could be the end of the season

Kamil Glik

The WP SportoweFakty portal reported that Kamil Glik suffered a serious injury during Cracovia’s training. Recuperation can take a really long time.

Kamil Glik is an icon of Polish football. He played 103 matches for the national team, scoring 6 goals. For many years he was the defensive leader in the national team. In the last years of his career, he decided to return to the Ekstraklasa and became a Cracovia player. In the previous campaign, the club was in the bottom of the table. The current season, however, started very well for Pasy. After 11 rounds, the team from Krakow is in 3rd place in the table, just two points behind the leader Lech Poznań. And now both teams will compete with each other. Unfortunately, Glik will not take part in the meeting.

Serious injury to the Cracovia defender

During training before the match against Lech, Glik suffered a serious injury. According to the WP SportoweFakty portal, the first diagnoses indicate a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in the knee.

This type of injury takes a very long time to heal. We cannot rule out a scenario in which we will not see Cracovia’s central defender on the pitch until the end of this season. This is a tragedy for both the player and the club, which will be significantly weakened. The Belts will certainly have to find some way to replace the 103-time representative of Poland, if possible.

A question mark next to Glik

In the event of such a serious injury, the 36-year-old’s future with Cracovia is in question. He has a valid contract with the club until the end of June next year. Meanwhile, it is difficult to say whether Glik will be able to return to the level he has shown so far. He has had to be sidelined for longer periods of time several times in his career.

Let us recall that Glik came to Cracovia in August 2023. He played 23 matches for this club, scoring two goals. Now fans have no choice but to wait for further news about his health.
