Sweet and bitter news from the US Open courts for Polish fans. Two Polish women dropped out, but Linda Klimovicova is one step away from the main tournament in New York.

In the first round of the fight for the US Open, the most experienced of Polish tennis players in qualifying, i.e. Katarzyna Kawa. One meeting was won by Maja Chwalińska, eventually saying goodbye to the second round. And the youngest of this trio, Linda Klimovicova has just advanced to the last, third phase of the game for the main ladder.

Where did the idea to make Czech talent play for Poland? Klimovicova comes from Olomouc and is 20 years old. Her father is Czech and her mother comes from Poland. Since 2020, the coach Jaroslav Machovsky has been operating in the Polish area, specifically in Bielsko-Biała. Working at the BKT Advantage club, he first dealt with, among others Klimovicova convinced the training of the mentioned Chwalińska, and then convinced.

The loudest about Klimovicova got when you reached the junior semi -final Wimbledon. It was 2022. And in October, only two years later, a tennis player was informed about the receipt of Polish citizenship.

In New York, Klimovicova will play with Latvian in the final. She is currently a competitor from position 116 in the WTA ranking. The Polish woman occupies 188th place. He will play for the promotion of Klimovicova on Friday (i.e. August 22), not before 20:00 Polish time.

US Open 2025: Where and when to watch the Big Slam tournament?

From Monday (i.e. August 18) at the Flushing Meadows courts, the competition in qualifying for the US Open 2025 main tournament began. The right to play without the elimination part in the case of Polish women have: Iga Świątek, Magda Linette and Magdalena Fręch.
