A surprising walker in the heart of Kwidzyn. Service intervention is successful

The appearance of an elk in the middle of the city aroused a considerable sensation. Surprised residents informed about the event in social media, providing photos and recordings of an animal traveling through the streets of Kwidzyna. The animal wandered between the buildings, probably looking for a way out of an unknown area. There is a real threat in such situations – both for the inhabitants and the animal itself, which is why a quick and coordinated intervention was necessary.

Efficient catching action

Uniformed services immediately appeared. Local administration and wild animal experts also joined the activities. As reported by the Provincial Police Headquarters in Gdańsk.

“The situation was resolved safely – for both people and the animal.”

In a message published on the website X (formerly Twitter), the police announced that:

“The Łoś, which moved the center of Kwidzyn, was safely caught, and then be taken into a suitable, natural environment, away from the buildings.”

The services emphasized that the whole action was possible thanks to the effective cooperation of many units.

“The action was carried out thanks to the close cooperation of uniformed services, with the support of municipal services and wild animal specialists,” it was noted in the entry.

Thanks were also addressed to the inhabitants of Kwidzyn, who not only did not hinder the actions, but on the contrary – their attitude enabled the efficient completion of the action:

“Thanks to the involvement of the services and the responsible attitude of the inhabitants, the situation was resolved safely – both for people and the animal,” we read in the communiqué.

Important rules for contact with wild animals

In connection with this unusual incident, the police reminded about the safety rules to be used in the case of a wild animal meeting in built -up areas. Contrary to appearances, such situations happen more and more often – especially in cities surrounded by forests and green areas, where the migration of wild fauna can be a natural phenomenon.

The basis is hating contact with the animal – you should not approach it, try to touch or chase away. The police also reminds that feeding wild animals can lead to an increase in the risk of their re -appearance in the urbanized zone.

Also, do not make noise near wild animals or use a flash when photographing them – this type of behavior can frighten them and provoke them to escape or aggression. Protection of pets that could frighten or be attacked by a wild intruder is also of key importance.
