An unusual situation occurred near the airport in Łódź. One of the men received probably the highest parking receipt in the world. He was expected to pay PLN 237,000.

We have known for a long time that parking lots and other services at airports are not cheap, but the obligation to pay approximately PLN 250,000 PLN for leaving a car in a parking lot sounds absurd. Mr. Jan, who was taking his relatives to the airport in Łódź, did not expect that it would cost him so much.

Parking in Łódź surprised travelers

The matter was reported by, among others,dzienniklodzki.pl. The editors report that a bizarre incident took place in Łódź at one of the airport parking lots. The driver left the car for almost a moment, and when he wanted to drive away and approached the parking meter… he couldn’t pay.

The driver parked in front of the kiss&fly terminal and helped unload the luggage from the car. Afterwards, he said goodbye to the people being driven away and headed towards the parking meter. The payment amount was supposed to be PLN 5, but when he wanted to settle the bill with his card, the transaction was still rejected. Ultimately, the man’s relative paid using her own money.

A quarter of a million for parking. They were shocked

Although he managed to leave the airport parking lot in Łódź, it turned out that the man’s card had been blocked. He found out about this a little later when trying to pay for the highway. When he contacted his bank, it turned out that the electronic payment system for the parking lot of the airport. That day, Reymonta tried to withdraw huge sums from the driver’s account.

The cost of the parking lot was to be as much as PLN 237,000 and PLN 195,000. zloty. It turned out that a relative of the man had a similar problem – an attempt was made to block £42,000 from her account.

The injured parties immediately filed a complaint at the airport. It turned out that the parking device was malfunctioning. This could include, among others: to an organized fraud attempt, for which hackers were responsible. “The parking devices communicate with each other via radio, someone could have broken into them,” the driver suggested.

The airport comments

The matter was commented on by Wioletta Gnacikowska, spokeswoman for the Łódź airport. “We have accepted the complaint, we will deal with it as soon as possible,” she said. She also added that the reporting person did not provide the amount of the disputed amount or the vehicle registration numbers, which would make it much easier to check the report, e.g. using a surveillance video.

In turn, Commissioner Aneta Sobieraj, spokeswoman for the Police Headquarters in Łódź, encouraged people to report the matter to the police, even if no damage occurred. It is unknown at this time what caused the incident. The case is being investigated.
