Trautenberk Microbrewery is located in the building of the Tippelt mountain hut, later known as Hotel Družba, located in Horní Malá Úpa, on the road leading to the Polish border. In this unique location, the view from the building extends to the Pomezní Hřeben range (Lasocki Ridge) and the Mała Úpa river valley, and there is a popular ski resort nearby.

Reconstruction with respect for history
The renovation of the building aimed to remove further “layers” that were added in the second half of the 20th century. Thanks to the efforts of the architects, the facility regained some of its former character – the wooden cladding and stone foundation typical of the Karkonosze shelters returned. In the part added later, a modern, harmonious metal façade was used. The project is a perfect combination of tradition and modernity, which makes it unique compared to other facilities in the region.
Functionality with a mountain atmosphere
In the basement of the building there is the heart of the entire project – a brewery with a production capacity of up to 10,000 hectoliters of beer per year. In addition to production, Trautenberk is also famous for its restaurant on the ground floor, where original lamps from the pre-war period have been preserved, emphasizing the historical atmosphere of the interior. On the upper floors there are comfortable rooms in the style of a mountain cottage for 130 guests.
A combination of tradition and modernity
The changes introduced, both outside and inside the facility, pay tribute to the history of the building and local architecture. “We have preserved what is most important – the traditional structure and details that give the building a Karkonosze character, while adapting it to the needs of modern guests,” emphasize Petr Kolář and Aleš Lapka, architects from the ADR studio responsible for the renovation. The facility fits harmoniously into the landscape, and thanks to modern solutions, it is also energy-saving and environmentally friendly.
