Tourists make such errors even a few, several times a week. The Border Guard reminds that an important document is necessary to fly out of Poland. It’s not just about situations in which we forgot about him.

Although before departure on vacation, we are frantically thinking about what to pack into a suitcase, there should be formalities in the first place. The basis for boarding the aircraft is not only the on -board card. Tourists must also show an important identity document – ID card or passport.

Errors at the airport. “Someone seems to have lost his evidence”

The Border Guard noticed that tourists flying from Katowice quite often forget about checking the validity of their documents. In this situation, they are confronted with the inability to depart from Poland. Instead of holidays, they will have great stress and lost money. “Dziennik Zachodni” pointed out the problem.

“Where do the problems of travelers come from? Someone seems to have lost his evidence, reserves him, and in two or three days he finds him in his pants pocket. Meanwhile, once a reserved document is subject to exchange. It is impossible to restore its validity – noted in an interview with Journal Lieutenant Szymon Mościcki, spokesman for the Silesian Border Guard Department.

In a similar situation there was a passenger who flew from Katowice to Turkish Antalya. It turned out that his document in the register of ID cards was invalidated – his loss was previously reported.

Flight with a child. What documents are needed?

Errors also occur when traveling with children. The basic document authorizing the youngest to travel around the world is a passport. ID card is also permissible, and school ID on some national routes.

Recently, a mother with children aged 8 and 11 did not fly to Mars from Katowice.

“It turned out that children’s passports were reserved in ICT systems at the citizen’s request. Travelers did not have other documents that would entitle them to cross the border,” said Lieutenant Szymon Mościcki

There is a lifebuoy – obtaining a temporary document at a point at the airport. You need time for this – at least an hour before departure.

When choosing abroad, it’s best to get acquainted with information for those traveling to a given country at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (list of countries in the GOV.pl/Wyb/Dywmacja/informacja-dla-podrojamych tab). There you will find requirements for the required validity of ID cards or passports. E.g. in Turkey. The validity of the ID card should include the entire planned period of stay. We will fly to Egypt with a passport, which is valid for a minimum of half a year from the planned date of return. If you lose the document, you need to make a temporary one.
