A long transfer doesn’t mean we have to stay in an uncomfortable waiting room. Wrocław proves that waiting for a train does not have to be boring. In the historic station, considered one of the most beautiful in Poland, we will find secret places where we can relax before continuing our journey. Few tourists know that you can visit, for example, a palm house or use the observation deck of the public library.
Visit the palm house at the Wrocław station
The “Places in Wrocław” portal reminds about unique attractions at the Wrocław Main Station. Since the end of 2023, the BWA Wrocław contemporary art gallery has been operating in the building, which includes a palm house and a space for relaxation surrounded by greenery. Anyone can enter for free, but with limited opening hours. From Wednesday to Thursday between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m., and on weekends until 6 p.m. There are places to charge phones on site, as well as a drinking water dispenser. “The Palm House refers to the concept of an orangery typical of palace architecture, and the 19th-century station building is associated with just such an idea,” explain the authors of the idea.
Terrace with a view of Wrocław
From inside the Palm House, without leaving the station building, we can also go to the Municipal Public Library. Branch no. 12 is located on the mezzanine, which can be reached using the escalators in the main hall, located right next to the ticket offices. The library has a reading room where you can read a book, but this is not the only advantage of this place.
The station library has one of the most interesting viewpoints in the city. Although the balcony is not placed high, it allows you to view the busy square in front of the station and the intersection with Piłdudskiego Street. Photos from this place will definitely be a unique souvenir. However, the terrace may not be open on rainy, cold or cloudy days. There are also five computers with Internet access available in the library.
