A scuffle on the network of Polish volleyball players. Disappointment in Krakow

The Argentineans became quite unexpected winners of the tournament in Krakow. In Tauron Arena, the team led by Marcelo Mendez, well -known in Poland, former coach JSW Jastrzębski Węgiel, won all matches. On Friday 3: 0 with Brazil, on Saturday 3: 0 with Serbia, and on Sunday 3: 1 with the Polish national team.

Wagner Memorial: Argentina triumphed in Krakow. Poles’ heavy legs

At the last match of the tournament, coach Grbić sent the best to battle, which seemed to have that day. Tomasz Fornal (celebrating the 28th birthday that day, a man from Krakow) and Wilfredo Leon in the role of hosts. Bartosz Kurek on the attack. Central duo, i.e. Jakub Kochanowski and Norbert Huber. Marcin Komenda and Libero Jakub Popiwczak.

On the other side of the net was a team that seems to be several days before the World Championships … already in a tournament form. The Argentineans actually showed that they deserved the most success in this year’s Memorial. Interestingly, for this representation this is the first victory in the history of the event organized since 2003.

After a defeat 1: 3, Poles finally finished in third place (second podium rank for Brazil). Paradoxically, although the fans could be disappointed in the form of Poles, it is worth adding that the team of coach Grbcia in this event took the same place in 2023. And then Poland reached for the gold medals of the European Championships and won the pass to the Olympic Games in Paris. So that’s how it is that the Memorial in memory of Hubert Wagner, takes place just before the moment when the right form for the target party is to appear.

Poles in Krakow appeared almost immediately after a difficult camp in Zakopane. It can therefore be expected that the form is to be ready even not at the beginning of the 2025 World Cup, but perhaps at the start of the event phase of the event. As you know, Poles will hardly have problems in group competitions. At least they shouldn’t.

There were more in Krakow … scuffles on the net. Poles are just relevant. Finally, a nice touch was a gesture from the mentioned Tomasz Fornal. After receiving a birthday cake and singing a well -known birthday melody by fans, the host donated PLN 21,000 – as a voucher from the 4F company, of which he is an ambassador – for two selected orphanages.

It is worth adding that in the dream team of XXII Hubert Wagner’s Memorial was the captain of Poles Bartosz Kurek.

World Cup 2025 volleyballers: Where and when to watch matches of the Polish national team?

It is worth noting that after the Wagner Memorial, and before the World Championships Poland will play one more friendly match – September 4 at the Atlas Arena in Łódź – when the opponent of Poles will be the representation of Brazil.

Polish volleyballers at the upcoming World Cup will play in group B. The opponents of Poles will be Romania (September 13), Qatar (September 15) and the Netherlands (September 17). It is worth recalling that the tournaments of the World Cup in the 21st century are particularly successful for Polish volleyball players. Poland won two silver (2006 and 2022) and two gold medal (2014 and 2018). During the tournament in the Philippines, the Polish team will be included in the group of candidates for the final triumph. Even more so after the recent gold VNL 2025.
