A scenario like from an action movie. The students wanted to kidnap a famous football player
Students from Russia wanted to have a large amount of cash quickly and “easily”. They decided to turn to crime and become kidnappers. They even planned to kidnap a famous football player, Andrei Mostovoi.
Russian students wanted to earn a lot of money. However, they had a choice of either a long path, combined with hard work that did not guarantee success, or something easy and quick, although not necessarily legal. They chose the latter and… became kidnappers.
They targeted several people – including the star of the Zenit Petersburg football club. Andrei Mostovoy, who has also been playing for the Russian national team for several years, seemed to them to be the right choice, guaranteeing a generous ransom. There was a recording on the Internet of them trying to overpower him and kidnap him, but the footballer, who played as a midfielder, freed himself after a short struggle. He then ran straight to a nearby police station.
Russia. Students from St. Petersburg allegedly kidnapped a businessman and tried to kidnap a famous football player. They were detained
The website sports.ru, which published the video of the kidnapping attempt on the X platform, determined that, apart from Mostovo, the perpetrators wanted to kidnap the son-in-law of a State Duma deputy, Vyacheslav Makarov. The suspects allegedly demanded 10 million rubles (over PLN 460,000) in exchange for the release of businessman Sergei Selegen. Four people were arrested in the case.
Sports.ru writes that the police arrested them “red-handed.” The suspects were supposed to release Selegen at some point – it happened after he gave them 210,000. RUB, i.e. in Polish currency – approximately PLN 9,500. They did it because he promised to provide them with 10 million, but he did not keep his word. Probably in the meantime, he also provided the services with the location where the criminals were waiting for his return – then the officers captured them.
The 20-year-olds claim that they acted on the orders of an older colleague
Three suspects testified during interrogation at the police station that they allegedly acted on the orders of their friend, who was a year older than them. They are all about 20 years old and study at the Maritime Academy in St. Petersburg.
