The place that affects the change is the famous Sinai mountain located in the southern part of the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt to a height of 2285 m above sea level, the area is known as the holy place of three religions, as early as 2002 it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List and attracts not only travelers. Tourists also visit the nearby well of Moses, chapel of the basting bush and explore the desert landscapes. Soon the image of this place is to change significantly.

The Egyptian authorities decided to revolutionize the aforementioned holy place and turn it into a huge tourist resort. This one will be very luxurious full of pools, hotels, restaurants and shops. An important attraction would also be a cable car or a local airport. Although the project likes the fans of splendor and carefree holidays, it arouses a lot of controversy in conservative environments and lovers of tradition.

The implementation of the plan is associated with many difficult activities, including displacement of the Beduin community. It is also recognized that the idea poses a threat to cultural and natural heritage. It is worth remembering that according to tradition, Sinai Moses received 10 commandments from God. For this reason, this place is one of the holiest in the world for Jews, Christians and Muslims. The investment is to be created despite the fact that international activists and UNESCO appeal to suspend the construction.

Work on the resort is ongoing

Changes are already introduced in a quiet place in the desert. Until now, many houses and small tourist centers of the Local Beduin community have been destroyed. Despite the objections, there is no indication that the work is to be suspended.

The authorities in Cairo claim that the project is “an Egyptian gift for the whole world and all religions.” They proclaim that by building a resort, they want to provide all tourist and recreation services and contribute to the promotion of this place. They also promise that they will keep local heritage and its qualities. “This is a chance to use the magic of this region and making it a must -have place to visit in the future, taking into account its spiritual, religious, archaeological and historical significance,” reads “Egypt Today”.

It is worth remembering that other similar attractions are created in Egypt. It is created, among others MASSI RED SEA resort on the bay of Soma, approx. 50 km south of Hurghada or the Great Egyptian Museum.
