A real feast with the participation of the national volleyball team. Poles are the terror of the world!
The upcoming weekend (i.e. July 18-19) will be the last in the intercontinental phase of the Volleyball Nations League. The Polish team is defending the title won last year.
Polish volleyball players are in 3rd place in the VNL 2026 table. 20 points scored and 7 victories on their account is a decent capital, taking into account the rotations made by coach Nikola Grbic.
However, this is a normal part of preparations for the most important event of a given season. This was the case in 2025, when Poles were preparing for the World Championships, and it is the same now, when the European Championships are in the horizon. The fight for the title of the best team on the Old Continent will take place during the tournament on September 9-26.
Nations League: Where and when will the Polish national team play its next matches?
The competition in Chicago (July 15-19) is the last intercontinental tournament in which Poles take part.
Who else will the Polish national team play against at the tournament in an exceptionally “Polish” city on the map of the United States? The set of teams promises to be very interesting indeed.
The Poles have already played against the Bulgarians, the world runners-up, and won very confidently in three sets.
The Poles will play the next two matches on one day (Saturday, July 18), against Brazil at 3:00, and then against the Olympic champions, France, from 11:00 p.m. For dessert, a clash with the hosts, USA – July 20 (Monday), again at 3:00. This match will also end the competition of Polish volleyball players in the intercontinental part of VNL 2026.
Interestingly, Poland deals its cards in the context of the fate of its closest opponents. Brazil is in eighth place in the VNL table. The French are in an even worse situation, being in a distant 11th place in the ranking. Only the US team is playing up to its potential. The United States national team is second in the table. However, even the Americans are not able to come close to the amazing Japanese, undefeated(!) in this year’s edition of VNL.
The competition in Chicago promises to be interesting in many respects. First of all, coach Grbic has almost all the most important players at his disposal, excluding those who are currently injured. Having in its ranks, among others, Tomasz Fornal, Wilfredo Leon or Kamil Semeniuk – it is hard not to argue that it is Poland that deals the cards and spreads fear among its rivals.
The Nations League finals will be held in Ningbo, China (July 30 – August 2).
