Journalist Lydia Swinscoe has prepared a ranking of the six best locations in Europe. The Polish city tops the list.

Lydia Swinscoe, a journalist at “The Independent”, has visited over 120 cities around the world over the last 21 years, and over half of her trips have been solo. Now created a list of six European locations that, in her opinion, are best suited for a solo summer trip.

She said she usually chooses places that are easy to get around and can be explored on foot, because this allows her to feel the atmosphere of a specific space. Additionally, in smaller locations you can find a lot of inexpensive accommodation, which is a positive aspect, because accommodation can be expensive if you do not share the expenses with another person.

Lydia Swinscoe also noted that she values contact with nature while traveling. He appreciates places where he can take advantage of beautiful beaches, locations with attractive tourist trails, but also cities with green areas.

Interestingly, Łódź came first in the journalist’s ranking. “After nine days spent in Łódź, Poland, I can confidently say that it is one of my favorite cities in the world. It is full of bold street art murals and recovered spinning mills transformed into cultural centers, and this place is teeming with creativity,” she said.

Lydia Swinscoe pointed out that Łódź can be explored on foot, and there are many inexpensive accommodations available on Airbnb and restaurants in the city that do not require prior reservations. The attractive offer is complemented by museums and galleries, including the Central Textile Museum. “During my stay, I also discovered that the late, great American filmmaker David Lynch was also a fan of the cityvisiting them at different periods of her life,” she mentioned.
