On Sunday, June 15, Slovak emergency services began the search for the Polish woman who was missing in the Piargova Dolinka region under the Koprovsky summit in the High Tatras. The Slovak Mountain Emergency Service (HZS) reported that TOPR rescuers had previously reported the fall of a 76-year-old tourist. A helicopter and six rescuers with three dogs, a drone and two mountain-volunteers rescuers were involved in the action.

Emergency services passed sad news. A woman’s body was found in one of the gorges. Rescuers reported that the 76-year-old had fatal injuries, falling through the rocky area, probably from the Przybylińska Pass. As it turned out, she died Krystyna Palmowskalegend of Polish Himalayanism.

PZA reminded that Krystyna Palmowska could boast of numerous achievements. “In the Alps she climbed in 1974, 1977 and 1978, making with Anna Czerwińska, among others, the second entrance of the purely feminine Matterhorn wall. From 1975 she took part in many Polish and international expeditions in Karakorum and Himalayas,” reads in social media.
What’s more, the first purely feminine entrance to Rakaposhi (7788 m) in 1979 with Anna Czerwińska turned out to be a success. In 1983, Krystyna Palmowska was the first woman in the world at the summit of Broad Peak (8051 m). Two years later she won Nanga Parbat (8125 m) – it was the first entrance in a team of women themselves.
