A Pole's extraordinary luck while mushroom picking. He found the most expensive specimen in the world

Mushroom picking in Małopolska was very fruitful. One of the men boasted about a rare and expensive specimen. He will check its authenticity.

The portal podhale24.pl reached out to the avid mushroom picker Mr. Władysław Sowiński. It turns out that he has recently had incredible luck. He claims that he has come across pine geese, which are considered to be one of the most expensive mushrooms in the world. You can eat them, and you can also earn a lot from them. This is what the happy resident of Zubrzyca Górna decided to do.

He found expensive specimens

Mr. Władysław, who boasted about finding pine geese, came across them in Zubrzyca Górna near Babia Góra. He collects chanterelles and boletus mushrooms on a daily basis, and his interest in such species was born in childhood. Now he claims that he has one of the most expensive specimens in the world. Interestingly, until recently it was thought that it had not been seen in Poland for about 100 years.

In 2021, for the first time in a long time, there were mentions that the goose was encountered in Zawoja, also in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, but in a different area of Babia Góra. The aforementioned mushroom picker himself claims to have seen them in the 1970s or 1980s.

The rarity of the pine goose in our country means that many people may question whether the specimen found by Mr. Władysław is definitely this particular mushroom. The man claims that he has known this species for years, but he has not always been able to give it a professional name. “In our country, these mushrooms were called copy. I was curious what kind of mushroom it was, but no one knew its official name. No one used the name pine goose,” the man informed in an interview with podhale24.pl.

Will check authenticity

A resident of Zubrzyca Górna has already declared what he did with the recently found pine geese. He claims that he froze some of them because he intends to confirm their authenticity at the sanitary inspection station. The rest is to be eaten.

If the mushrooms found turn out to be authentic gooseberries, Mr. Władysław will officially have a real treasure. These specimens are appreciated all over the world, one kg of them can fetch up to 9 thousand zlotys. The aforementioned mushroom is not protected, but today in Poland you can’t legally earn money on it – it is not allowed for commercial circulation. It is different abroad, for example in Japan. Once we have the aforementioned mushrooms, we can use them, among others, for soups or rice dishes.
