A new tourist route in a Polish cave. This will be a real hit
A new one will soon join the well-known and sought-after tourist route in the cave in Lower Silesia. The work is in progress and tourists are rubbing their hands.
We are talking about the Bear Cave, a famous attraction located in the Śnieżnik Massif (Eastern Sudetes) near the village of Kletno. This is where people from all over the country have been coming since the beginning of the season. The demand is so great that tickets cannot be purchased until June 7, 2026. There are many indications that the announced new route will ease traffic somewhat, but will also attract new enthusiasts.
New route in the Bear Cave
The investment is in progress and is the responsibility of the Stroński Park Activity “Jaskinia Niedźwiedzia” sp. z o. o. When the work is completed, a kilometer-long route leading to the spectacular Mastodon Hall, one of the largest underground spaces discovered in the Sudetes, will be made available to tourists. The place is scheduled to be open in 2028.
The route under construction includes the so-called parts of the mastodon, to which visitors have not had access so far. “The Mastodon Room was discovered in 2012. The path used by cavers to discover the room cannot be routed, so we forged a corridor from the outside leading to this room,” Artur Sawicki told PAP. However, such actions took time.
It is known that the Mastodon Hall is over 30 meters high, 30 meters wide and over 100 meters long. Behind it, a very diverse part of the cave is accessible. There will be many stages and levels of passage for visitors, including: stairs, viewing platforms and tight corridors. Despite the extreme conditions, one hour is enough to complete the crossing.
Now there is no shortage of attractions
You have to wait for new products to open. Currently, tourists can visit the Bear Cave along a route that has been known for years. As it is located within a nature reserve, entry is limited and tickets are pre-booked and sell out quickly. The accessible tourist route allows you to move along comfortable sidewalks with qualified guides.
The route is described as “for everyone” and requires approximately a 45-minute walk. The trip is not recommended for people who are afraid of the dark, bats, or suffer from heart disease or hypertension.
About 400,000 remains of a cave bear, which became extinct about 27,000 years ago, were discovered in the cave, which, according to scientists, makes this place unique.
