A new option in the ATM. There has never been such a solution before
This is the first time an ATM has been used in this way. In one of the cities, they will gain a new function, which will be… the ability to vote.
Ełk (Warmia-Masuria Province) will implement a pioneering solution that has never been seen in our country before. The city authorities announced that in the upcoming vote on the participatory budget for next year, residents will be the first in Poland to be able to cast their votes, among other things, using an ATM. – You will be able to vote in three ways this year. In addition to the methods known from last year: electronically and using a traditional card, this year we are the first city in Poland to introduce a third voting method: using ATMs. — the Ełk City Hall reported.
Voting by ATM
As gazetaolsztynska.pl writes, Ełk is the initiator of enabling residents to participate in voting through selected ATMs. The technological partners of this project are Mastercard and Planet Cash.
The voting process via ATM is limited to a few clicks – you don’t have to fill out a form or enter your personal data. You have to insert your card into an ATM that offers this option and enter your PIN. Then, on the menu displayed on the screen, select the “I vote” option and vote for two selected projects.
You will be able to vote for one investment project and one non-investment project. The list of projects that will be put to the vote will be announced by September 28. Voting for projects in the Ełk civic budget will last from October 1 to 14. The results will be announced at the end of next month. The amount allocated for the implementation of projects under the Ełk Civic Budget for 2025 is PLN 1 million.
The idea of the so-called participatory budget is to increase citizens’ influence on the use of city finances. This is to increase the trust of local communities in the actions taken by municipal authorities.
