A new movement of investigators regarding Smolensk. “Ambiguities and contradictions”
New information on the extensive investigation into the Smolensk disaster. It seems that investigators have reservations about the experts’ work.
“The national prosecutor’s office asked the international team of experts for a supplementary opinion on the Smolensk disaster,” Gazeta found. Portal editorial team revealed on Monday (February 2)that PK representatives analyzed the opinion issued by the previously mentioned team and saw something in it that prompted them to make a specific move.
And so – in mid-December last year – Investigative Team No. 1 requested a supplementary opinion from members of the international expert group.

Proc. Katarzyna Calów-Jaszewska noted in an interview with gazeta.pl that at the moment, For the sake of the investigation, investigators cannot provide detailed information regarding the scope of questionswhich were included in correspondence to foreign specialists.
The prosecutor’s office is expected to receive a supplementary opinion in a few months (it is to be received by PK by mid-May this year). As indicated by the editors, it will be written in English, which means that it will have to be translated into German. Polish – which will further extend the duration of the proceedings.
What should it contain? “The opinion aims to clarify ambiguities and contradictions previous arrangements,” said prosecutor Calów-Jaszewska.
A several hundred-page expert opinion. What does the document received by investigators contain?
The Gazeta portal reminds that a comprehensive opinion was sent to the PK almost a year and a half ago (after the holidays). It contains records explaining the circumstances and causes of the disasterin which the President of the Republic of Poland – Lech Kaczyński, his wife, the first lady – Maria Kaczyńska, the last head of the Polish state in exile – Ryszard Kaczorowski, died, as well as other representatives of state authorities – marshals, ministers, parliamentarians, heads of many important institutions, military commanders, patriotic activists, as well as members of the crew and security.
Its translation was sent to PK in the second half of August last year. The expert opinion is several hundred pages long and contains opinions in the field of aviation, medicine, chemistry, etc.
