PKO BP warns: Scammers impersonate the bank and send fake emails with dangerous attachments. A moment of inattention can cost a fortune.

PKO Bank Polski has published an urgent message in which it warns against dangerous messages sent to Poles. The warning is addressed not only to the bank’s clients, but to all who can fall victim to cybercriminals.

In sent e-mails, fraudsters impersonate PKO BP, using the forged senders’ addresses and titles suggesting that the message contains confirmation of the transfer. The bank informs that it is not the author of those emails that contain dangerous attachments-for example, with the names PKOBANK.pdf or PKO-362712.pdf. Opening a file or clicking on the link contained in the message may result in the infection of the device and the loss of funds from the account.

Watch out for suspicious emails

PKO BP appeals to be particularly careful and not trust the sender only on the basis of the displayed name or phone number. As the bank points out, criminals can not only falsify the e-mail address, but also the phone number that appears on the recipient’s screen.

The announcement emphasized that even the best technical security is not enough if there are no precautions and principles of limited trust. The bank reminds you of the need to consciously use financial services and not overdo it any attachments whose origin raises doubts.

The number of customers is growing

At the same time, PKO BP announced that the number of his clients is still growing. At the end of 2024, the bank already served 12.1 million people. The new strategy for 2025–2027 assumes further development of digital services and increasing the number of individual clients to 15 million. There are also plans to implement a simplified mobile application and expand the credit offer.
