A new low-cost line will launch in Europe. Its name hides a different one
A new low-cost airline intends to connect Santiago de Compostela with European cities. Ticket prices are attractive, but who will actually take the passengers on the trip?
There will soon be more traffic at Spain’s Santiago de Compostela airport. Recently, Wizz Air announced that they would fly to the city popular among pilgrims from Warsaw-Modlin, and now a new player wants to enter the market.
Fly2Galicia. Flights to Santiago de Compostela
It is not a full-fledged airline. Fly2Galicia is the de facto commercial brand behind Aviation & Mobility Services Group SL, a company based in Santiago de Compostela, founded in January 2026. It plans to operate 17 flights around Europe a week: on routes to Alicante, Zaragoza and Granada, and outside Spain, among others. to Prague, Brussels and Venice.
The flights are to be carried out in the ACMI formula, i.e. “wet leasing”. According to aviation.direct, their operator will be Flyyo – a brand of the Romanian charter company Fly Lili. Fly2Galicia will create a network of regular connections and sell tickets.
The abbreviation ACMI comes from the words Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance. This is a rental agreement that includes these elements. Initially, the “virtual airline” will rent one Airbus A320 with crew.
First Fly2Galicia flight
The inaugural flight to Zaragoza is scheduled for December 1, 2026 at 6:50. The first operational season is scheduled to last until October 24, 2027. Ticket prices on domestic routes will start from around EUR 19, which will allow it to compete for passengers with other low-cost airlines. In the basic Economy GO tariff, the passenger will take on board a personal item and one piece of cabin luggage weighing up to 8 kg. Tickets can now be booked.
Experts approach this endeavor with cautious skepticism. “The selected model (ACMI) significantly reduces the necessary investments compared to the creation of conventional airlines, but does not eliminate the commercial risk,” we read in the Diario de Santiago daily.
Romanian charter airline FlyLili has two Airbus A320s in its fleet. According to Spanish media, the owner of Aviation & Mobility Services Group SL is Bulgarian entrepreneur Gueorgui Iavorov Popov.
