A new green oasis in Poland. Has unique forests and traces of the queue

For several days, Poles have been enjoying a new nature reserve. Bliżyńskie Natural forests will protect the heritage of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains and are open to guests.

This is good news for residents of the province. Świętokrzyskie and all lovers of nature. From May 27, Bliżyńskie Natural Forests are a new nature reserve. A significant part is occupied by Borowe habitats with a predominance of high fir boron. It is considered endemic for the heights of south-eastern Poland.

New nature reserve in Poland

The new reserve is located within the Natura 2000 Suchedniowskie Lasy area, in the communes of Bliżyn and Suchedniów. It will be open to visitors and mushroom pickers. Guests can walk among the diverse age of trees, such species as fir, beech, oak, Polish larch, papillary birch or black alder. The reserve is distinguished by a rich spatial structure and a large amount of dead wood – a key element of natural ecosystems.

It is also inhabited by numerous species of amphibians, birds and mammals, such as: Grzebieniasta, woodpecker, Dendrocopos Leucotos, Urals Strix Uralensis, owl Glaucidium Passerinum and Wilk Canis Lupus, which creates a family group there.

Traces of the narrow -gauge railway

The climate ministry pointed out that a significant part of the reserve is areas of secondary succession, created in the areas of former mining excavations from the time of the Old Polish industrial district. There you can see traces of former narrow -gauge railways operating at the end of the 19th and the first half of the 20th century. This increases the landscape and cultural values ​​of the reserve.

Nature reserves in Poland include areas preserved in a natural or little changed state, ecosystems, refuges and natural habitats, as well as plants, animal habitats and mushroom habitats, as well as creations and ingredients of inanimate nature, which are distinguished by special natural, scientific, cultural or landscape values.
