A new airport in Poland is getting closer. The minister announced a key date
After the holidays, the main works on the construction of the airport in Baranów are scheduled to start. A key element of the Port Polska program is to be launched in 2032.
Minister Maciej Lasek announces the commencement of basic works on the new airport in Baranów. It will be the most important element of the Port Polska program, i.e. a large investment program previously known as the Central Communication Port (CPK). The government announced a kind of rebranding of the project at the end of last year.
– We are talking about the Port of Poland, a whole large investment project that includes the construction of an airport, but also the construction of high-speed railways and the entire infrastructure around the airport. You can’t talk about one thing here. We need to talk about the entire system, the entire network – emphasizes the government representative for CPK in an interview with “Fakt”.
New airport in Poland. Work will start soon
Referring to the airport itself, Lasek did not want to talk about the symbolic “groundbreaking”, because – as he emphasized – preparatory work is already underway. The main stage is to start after the holidays. — These real earthworks, I don’t like the word “first shoveling”, because everyone talks about it. Preparatory works are already underway, while the main earthworks, which will involve driving piles that will be the foundation of the terminal and the railway station, will start in September – he argued.
The scale of the works is expected to be large at the very beginning of construction. — These are 8,100 such piles with a length of 15 to 30 m. This is a really big issue, so that a terminal could later be built in this area without any problems, which will also be the most modern terminal in Europe – Lasek explained.
According to the presented schedule, the new airport will be launched at the end of 2032. The government representative for the CPK assures that this date remains valid. When asked if the first plane would take off then, Lasek replied: “yes”.
