A minimum of PLN 150 more for pensioners. Deputy Minister of Labor about Nawrocki’s proposal

Sebastian Gajewski

In a few years, these PLN 150 may be a smaller increase than the one that Poles will give minimal valorisation resulting from the statutory indicator – says Deputy Minister of Labor Sebastian Gajewski in an interview with Money.pl, referring to the retirement proposal of the future President Karol Nawrocki.

As we have already informed, President-Elek Karol Nawrocki announced the submission of a bill that would introduce a guaranteed minimum increase in a pension by PLN 150. In addition, the valorisation indicator would always be higher than the inflation indicator. The new regulations would apply from March 2026. Until now, with the March indexation of pensions, no guaranteed minimum amount of benefits increased.

We are currently working on these proposals of statutory changes. As the President of Elek announced, in the first days of the presidency he will submit bills – announced Rafał Leśkiewicz, the future spokesman for the new president.

Pensioners will gain a minimum of PLN 150? Deputy Minister of Labor comments

Sebastian Gajewski, deputy minister of family, work and social policy, referred to Nawrocki’s proposal in an interview with Money.pl. – In our opinion, the applicable regulations, which provide for two elements of the valorisation indicator – a permanent element that guarantees an increase in inflation, and a variable, i.e. payroll, amounting to at least 20 percent. real increase in salaries – allow you to avoid very low valorisation by raising the payroll element from 20 percent. For example, up to 30 or 50 percent. – emphasizes Gajewski.

The deputy head of the Labor Ministry indicates that a similar effect “we are able to achieve, using the statutory index of valorisation and determining the payroll element, e.g. from 20 % to a higher amount, if we face the risk of very low valorisation.” – It is so much attractive today with the amount of valorization – “we will save in the Act PLN 150”. But remember that money has no fixed value over time. In a few years, these PLN 150 may be a smaller increase than the minimum valorisation resulting from the statutory indicator. That is why we think that it is better to use a statutory indicator that ensures flexibility and the ability to adapt to the economic situation without having to change the regulations – explains Gajewski.
