A little-known health resort in Poland. It is only 9 km from Wawel

We are talking about a place called Swoszowice. The spa estate is part of Krakow, although many have not even heard of it. Currently, it is the only legally designated point of this type in the city, and it has been boasting about its medicinal values ​​for 200 years. Why is it worth going there?

Swoszowice Spa in the heart of Lesser Poland

The Kraków Swoszowice health resort boasts special sulphate-bicarbonate-calcium-magnesium water, used for treatment and rehabilitation. The Swoszowice waters are the greatest treasure of this place. You can take full and partial baths in them and it is said that thanks to them the health resort has become unique even on a European scale.

The area is green and quiet, located in the south of the city in the Wieliczka Foothills. There is no shortage of parks, forests, restaurants and attractions located near the estate. It is important, among other things, Museum of Military Affairs.

Interestingly, the health resort is located approximately 9 km from Wawel, which means that we can get there from the center of Krakow in less than half an hour. We can easily get there both by car and public transport. As you can guess, it does not have the cleanest air in the country, but respiratory diseases are not treated there. Patients with spine, rheumatological, upper limb, lower limb or dermatological diseases are accepted.

There is one catch

Currently, people interested in visiting Swoszowice can count on a free stay or one with funding from the National Health Fund. As part of state care, outpatient rehabilitation takes place there, including a medical consultation, 18 treatment days and much more. There are also full-price options. There is one catch, because the spa representatives inform that they currently have no accommodation and do not provide on-site services.

This means that we will benefit from physiotherapy treatments, hydrotherapy, kinesitherapy, massages and cryotherapy, but we will not stay for longer. According to the information provided on the health resort’s website, the patient spends about 2 hours there after receiving 3 treatments a day.

Swoszowice is pleasant both in summer and winter, but in the off-season it will be much quieter. At the same time, you can visit the attractions of Krakow. The place is currently offering a Christmas offer. Those interested can purchase an invitation to spa treatments as a gift for their loved ones. Moreover, in December the prices of some treatments are lower to PLN 20.
