A large sturgeon shot out of the water. The fisherman set a new record
The record fish grabbed the hook – the rod barely held. Was there a new record, how long did the specimen measure?
Travis Keating – a resident of Fargo (Cass County) – caught a huge lake sturgeon (Acipenser fulvescens). A freshwater fish from the family Acipenseridae (sturgeons) must have been swimming in Rainy (Lake of the Woods County, Minnesota) for a long time.
The talented angler sat on the river bank in the area of Four Mile Bay (a bay at the mouth of the reservoir). At one point he felt a tug, which meant that some huge fish had grabbed the bait. While struggling, at one point she fired.
Keating ultimately won this battle. How long was the specimen?
Anglers have another reason to celebrate
A new Minnesota state record has officially been set. The sturgeon was 80 inches (203 centimeters). As for the circumference, it was 38 inches (96.5 centimeters), Fox 9 reported.
This is not the only such fascinating feat recently. There are many great anglers in the USA – including: Robert Glover who caught a sun bass (Lepomis gibbosus). A freshwater fish from the Centrarchidae family that fell into the hands of a Morgantown (Monongalia County) resident was found in Cheat Lake.
The trout measured 9.76 inches (24.79 centimeters) and weighed only 0.75 pounds (0.34 kilograms).
