A huge mammal thrown to the beach. Such a view for tourists is rare
The beach was occupied by a huge humbak. This water mammal appeared unexpectedly, and removing it required a lot of time. The final of the action was unpleasant.
It was not possible to save the Humbak thrown to the sea on Saturday morning. When the services arrived, he was already dead. The incident occurred in the Brazilian Rio de Janeiro on one of the city beaches in the Barra Da Tijuca district. Although it is usually the area of paradise rest for locals and tourists, this time a sad view was waiting for everyone.
Humbak thrown to the beach
The mentioned humback measured 6 meters long. These types of mammals are called other ocean longs and are often much larger – their mass can exceed 40 tons, and body length reaches up to 17 meters in males and 19 females. Importantly, these creatures are extremely rarely attacking people and occur in various waters in the world. Recently, one of the individuals has been met even in the Baltic in Poland.
It is not known what happened to this Brazilian individual. Yasmin Daoualiba, a veterinarian from the water mammary laboratory of the University of Rio de Janeiro explained that the migration season of these animals is currently underway, so it happens that some of them after death land in the coastal region and are found in agility.
Difficult operation on the beach
Finding a dead humbak on the beach is always a challenge. In order for the use of a given area to be possible and safe, it is first necessary to remove the body. It was so this time. The mammal removal operation lasted about four hours and required the use of heavy equipment.
The campaign was monitored by, among others Biologists from the University of Rio de Janeiro. It is known that the Humbak’s body will be taken to the University Laboratory, where experts will conduct a section of his corpse. Taking samples, is intended to identify factors that could have contributed to the death of the animal.
