A huge find in a Polish forest. “Mushroom Dream”

Siedzun

A trip to the forest in August may be full of surprises. This is what was waiting there for one of the Poles. He showed off his collection online.

The mushroom season is in full swing, and August, although slowly coming to an end, is still the perfect time to look for chanterelles, bay boletes, boletes, boletes and even boletes. You may also come across another edible treasure, and a very large one at that. The creator of the Facebook page “Grzybywlesie” found out about this.

The hit of August mushroom picking

One of the mushroom lovers went to the forest in Greater Poland. He returned from it with a pine tree, commonly known as a goat’s beard or a rag tree. It is characterized by yellow color and an unusual wavy shape. Although at first glance it does not look like something to eat, in fact, it is perfect for preparing tasty dishes – just boil, fry or stew it.

The mushroom found was not ordinary, as can be seen in the photo published online. “A young, beautiful and HUGE Siberian – a mushroom picking dream” – this is how the author of the publication described him. Internet users quickly began to respond to the man, showing their forest treasures or congratulating him. “I would like you to teleport half of it, it will be good for soup”, “Ohhh beautiful!”, “Bravo” – we read in the comments section.

Siedzuń and other specimens. This will reign supreme in the fall

Siedzuń is a safe mushroom that grows in coniferous and mixed forests, and most often on pine roots. It can be found from July to November, so we are currently in the peak season for this specimen. You just have to be careful not to confuse it with very similar mushrooms, such as the lysium mushroom or the oak mushroom, which is protected. If you are planning mushroom picking in September, you can still find such specimens, although many others will also be available.

The coming month is usually the best time to look for saffron mushrooms, honey bees and the already mentioned boletes. In addition, you will still find, among others: bolete or chanterelles. Regardless of what you see on the trail, be careful before each visit to the forest. Do not reach for mushrooms without sufficient knowledge about them. If in doubt as to whether a particular species is edible, it is always best to consult with someone experienced in harvesting.
