The fishing world held its breath for a moment – a new record was officially announced. This is how much a huge catfish weighed.

The noteworthy feat of the passionate fisherman from Florence was reported by the local website KDH News. Andy Amburn – because we are talking about him – in mid-July this year, like every weekend, he went to a nearby reservoir. This time it was Stillhouse Hollow Lake.

A large blue catfish (Ictalurus furcatus) was waiting for him there all the time – as soon as he dipped the hook of his fishing rod, which he had come across with his own bait, a fight to the death began.

How long was the specimen? How much did the fish weigh?

After weighing the fish from the Ictaluridae family (catfish) on certified equipment, it turned out that it weighed as much as 42.5 pounds (almost 19.3 kilograms). As for the length of the fish, it measured almost 43.9 inches (almost 111.45 centimeters).

This is a new official Texas state record!
