Stanisław Majorek is dead. Information about the legend’s death was provided by the Polish Handball Association. He is an Olympic medalist from the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal.

Stanisław Majorek (born June 25, 1937 in Pleśna near Tarnów) is an outstanding figure in Polish handball. He was a graduate of the University of Physical Education in Kraków, and during his studies he was a player of the AZS Kraków team.

He quickly began his coaching career. In the years 1967–1968 he was the coach of the junior team, and in the years 1970–1978, together with prof. Janusz Czerwiński, and then with Igor Pazur, he led the Polish men’s national team. With the former, he formed a coaching duo that won the historic bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976.

Let us add that this is the only Olympic medal won by Polish handball players in the history of Poles taking part in Olympic tournaments.

At the world championships in 1974 and 1978, with the Polish national team, he took 4th and 6th place. His extensive coaching CV, in addition to managing the Polish national team, also includes work with the Luxembourg national team, as well as the teams of Stal Mielec and Unia Tarnów.
