A good change for PKP Intercity passengers. It’s about selling tickets
The rules for selling PKP Intercity tickets are changing. Some connections can be booked half a year in advance.
Purchasing international tickets at PKP Intercity has never been easier. The carrier is changing the rules for booking connections from Poland to abroad, allowing travelers to get a seat even half a year before the train departure. However, this facility will only apply to selected connections. “Prior reservation allows you to guarantee seats on the selected train, as well as comprehensive planning of the entire trip – accommodation, attractions and transfers on site, especially during the tourist season. It is also a greater chance to purchase a ticket at an attractive price,” we read on the PKP Intercity website.
International tickets in PKP Intercity under new rules
PKP Intercity is introducing another revolution in the sale of international tickets. Until now, connections to trains from Poland to abroad could be purchased no more than 60 days in advance. Now, on selected routes, it will be possible to book seats half a year before the trip.
The change will apply to connections to Germany, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia and Lithuania. At the end of October, the pre-sale period for tickets to the Czech Republic will also be extended, but in the case of these routes it will be shorter, i.e. 90 days. “Ultimately, pre-sales are planned to be launched even half a year earlier for these connections,” we read. The introduction of the new facility will not take place on trains going to Ukraine – in this case, trips can still only be planned 20 days in advance.
Changes only on the website
However, the possibility of purchasing tickets 6 months in advance has so far only appeared on the carrier’s website and application. At station ticket offices, seats on international trains can still be booked only according to the old rules.
With the entry into force of the new annual timetable, more trains going abroad will appear on Polish tracks. New in the carrier’s system is, among others: connection to Leipzig.
