A fish bigger than the TV made the fishing rod dance. A new record was broken
The angler caught a record fish from the Amiidae family. What was its length?
The new record, which was set in the northern part of the USA, was reported by Valley News Live. It was established by Benjamin Erb – a resident of Bemidji.
At the beginning of July this year, the talented angler went to the legendary Mississippi River. Huge specimens swim in it and cannot be easily dragged to the shore.
At one point, a large softshell (Amia calva) grabbed the hook. What happened next? “Fierce fighting,” a Beltrami County resident reported on Facebook.

The amiaceae finally gave up, so Erb pulled it out of the water and measured it.
Again, the length of the softwood was confirmed using a certified measure and in the presence of an expert – a representative of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. This is what American regulations require.
Verdict? We officially have a new record – the freshwater fish measured 31.5 inches (80.01 centimeters).
