A drone suddenly appeared at the beach. He flew 20 meters above the group of surfers

Dron na plaży

It was not a peaceful rest for many tourists in the Canary Islands. The drone appeared near them completely illegally, posing a threat. The pilot suffered strict consequences.

A dangerous incident occurred near the popular Playa Blanca beach in Puerto del Rosario on Fuerteventura. People in this place noticed a drone flying almost above their heads. Interestingly, the machine was heading towards the north end of the runway of the airport. The civil guard reacted and made an important appeal.

A drone near the beach and airport

The problem was reported a few days ago. It turned out that one of the tourists was completely illegally controlled by the drone. He flew at a height of just 20 meters above a group of surfers and anxiety sowed. It was an unmanned aerial vehicle, DJI Mini 2 Pro, weighing 249 grams. The use of such equipment in Spain requires permission, which is consistent with EU air safety regulations.

A patrol from the tax and border unit was immediately sent to the scene. He quickly confirmed that the drone was active in limited airspace (ATZ airport zone), which is subject to constant air traffic control. It turns out that such offenses are threatened with penalties of up to PLN 1 million, and in some cases it is possible to confiscate the drone by the authorities. A man controlling the drone suffered the consequences – he was detained and burdened with a fine.

An appeal was issued on drones

The civil guard on the island reminds all vacationers that before we take the drone to the beaches, we should read the new and tightened regulations prevailing in Spain. Flying with drones near the airports is strictly prohibited, unless the Spanish Aviation Agency (AESA) is obtained earlier.

The authorities emphasized that flying a drone without permission poses a serious threat, because the falling drone can cause damage to people on earth. In addition, it is a threat to aircraft during start and landing.

Fuerteventura is a particularly popular tourist site, which is why planes fly there on average every 20 minutes, and the airport statistically accepts 72 flights a day.
