A tragic situation occurred in the capital of Bulgaria. It was there that four people died in a train carriage. The mysterious incident caused panic. The police are investigating the case.

No one in Sofia expected such an end to the year. The situation took place in the morning of December 31. A fire broke out in one of the railway carriages standing at the central station. The place where one had previously felt safe became filled with terror.

Initial information provided by local media shows that several people in crisis of homelessness entered the carriage. They were probably looking for shelter there. Then, around 2:30 a.m., an unexpected and mysterious fire occurred. The people inside suffered smoke inhalation. Not everyone could be saved, as four people died.

According to the press service of the Bulgarian Ministry of the Interior, the injured were transported to a local toxicology clinic. Their health condition is assessed as serious. There were reports in the local media that homeless people may have started the fire.

The police are investigating the case

Although the fire was extinguished, police do not yet have clear information on what exactly happened. The situation looked so serious that three fire trucks and one specialized SOT vehicle were working at the station during the hours of the tragedy. There were a total of 14 rescuers there, which she confirmed Directorate-General for Fire Safety and Civil Protection.

Investigative activities will be carried out on site. This is not the first time that tragedies have occurred at railway stations and trains. Such things have already happened, among others: in Poland. In November this year, a train caught fire in Poznań. Then they were driven by, among others, fans. As many as nine fire brigades had to work on site, and the travelers were evacuated. A few years ago, a tragedy occurred in the capital of Egypt. There, 25 people died due to the derailment and fire at the station.
