A Canadian woman about culture shock in Poland. She couldn’t get used to this
Moving foreigners to Poland can be troublesome. They regularly share their experience in this field, including: on social media. Here’s how the Canadian commented on her stay.
From time to time, we look at reports of foreign tourists from their stays in Poland. Some people visit here only once, traveling on Pendolino and visiting Krakow, Warsaw or GdaĆsk. Others decide to move, then notice a lot of differences and share what delights them. How different is life in a European metropolis from that in Canada? This is what the creator who works on TikTok as @jackie.mc87 talks about in the video.
A Canadian woman about her stay in Poland
Canadian mother Jackie moved to Poland with her baby a few months ago. She lives a quiet life there with her husband and regularly experiences many culture shocks. The fact that the North American country is significantly different from Poland has already been said by, among others, our compatriots who moved there permanently. Here’s what a citizen from this part of the world has to say about life here.
In one of the TikTok videos, a woman points out that surprises concern seemingly small things. An important element turned out to be the children’s corners in restaurants with tables and crayons, popular in Poland, and the babyccino drink – frothed warm milk served in a small cup. For some, it’s the childhood equivalent of coffee. The Canadian was also shocked by the children’s menu often available in restaurants in the city.
This wasn’t the end. “It’s surprising that you can get into a taxi with a small child without a car seat. I was also surprised by the way the car seat was mounted rear-facing in the front seat,” Jackie continued.
Positive impressions of a Canadian woman
As you can easily see, many shocks concern positive aspects, because it is difficult to complain about additional facilities for children, which you can use if you want. The comments of a foreign resident can also be a reminder to us that things that seem obvious to us are not popular or within reach everywhere.
The Canadian mother points out that she does not evaluate differences negatively, but perceives them as otherness. “There are other systems, habits and expectations, but you have to learn to find your way in them. I never would have thought that many things would be so different, but when you raise a child, you start to notice everything,” she added on Tik Tok.
At the same time, in one of the videos she emphasizes what made the most positive impression on her in Poland. She noticed a similar trend in other European countries. It was about city squares where people gather and children can play.
